Unpackin No comments yet

Our sea freight container arrived last week which means that the house looked a lot like this.

And while Anita and I spent the week unpacking room by room and also using the opportunity to organize the house, what goes where etc, the boys really only took an active interest when we finally unpacking the big box full of outdoor toys. And then also went about unpacking them according to their concept of organisation – meaning, throw stuff all over the garden.

A House in the Park 1 comment

So we got a house! It’s a beautiful old 3-bedroom home in Hyde Park, one of Austin’s most saught-after neighbourhoods. The house belongs to a 90 year-old Methodist pastor (a certain Dr. Harris) and is let by a friend of his, one Ms. H Houston, a grand old Texas lady. We are very lucky to get it and I really do think that it is down to Anita’s amazing efforts in the application and, of course, Adam’s winning smile!

There are many amazing things about the house, the area, the creek/park across the road, the fact that Trudy’s [[a legendary Austin local hangout]] is literally just down the road on 30th street. But by far the coolest thing is that the park down the road where the swings and the slides are is called Adams Park – really.

Here’s a map of where the house is. Click on the image to go to the interactive map and then on Street View (just below the image of the house) to have a look around at the neighbourhood.

And have a look at the amazing house next door with its Gaudi-inspired porch roof.

There’s a lot more to write about, but right now we’re just looking forward to getting back into the house tomorrow to take some more pictures.
